ROPS should never interfere with in car technologies, especially primary and supplementary safety systems.  As vehicles become increasingly sophisticated, designers and manufacturers of ROPS have to be very careful to ensure that modifications don’t affect these OEM safety systems.

A case in point is the use of airbags in new models, particularly side curtain airbags. Regular testing is essential to ensure that interior ROPS components do not interfere with air bags during activation.  See here a Hilux curtain air bag being activated with Safety Devices T097 ROPS installed.
