Do you need ROPS? Back to results

Are you unsure whether your company should be using roll over protection in your fleet?

In consultation with experts and from SDI’s own experience in the field, an interactive programme has been launched within the Safety Devices website called the “ROPS decider". The decider asks a series of 10 simple questions about your fleet, staff and driving environments to give an indicative answer.

Whether to have ROPS or not is the perennial question asked by most Fleet and HSE managers.  Often the answer is not clear and normally requires a risk assessment which can be complicated and costly, so the decider is an easy first step.

“Of course the answer isn’t and can never be absolute but should give a useful indication of the risks” says Safety Devices’ MD Gavin Davidson.  “For many UK Companies the introduction of the Corporate Homicide Act has brought the issues in sharper focus.  The ROPS decider has been designed to be realistic and responds to preventative measures your company may have already taken, such as driver training and speed limiters".
