Militrex and Project Mobility take on the Tuareg Rallye Back to results

Safety Devices has sponsored Militrex and Project Mobility to support the 14th Tuareg Rallye in Morocco, starting on 18th March 2012.  A Land Rover Defender 130 was fitted with a Safety Devices roll cage in an impressive six hours by a team of British Army soldiers ready for the challenge – driving across 2,230km of Moroccan desert, starting in Nador Missor and finishing in Mojacar, Spain on 26th March 2012.

Militrex and Project Mobility offer practical help and support through the conversion of 4x4 vehicles so they can be driven by amputees, or those with disabilities affecting driving.  They also give wounded ex-servicemen the chance to enjoy adventure and new challenges through off-road Safari experiences.

The team led by principal driver and serving soldier Trevor McGill will be supporting the Bowler Offroad team throughout the event.

Safety Devices has been designing and manufacturing Roll Over Protection Structures (ROPS) for the military since it built the first protective structures for the British and New Zealand Armies in 1980. Our ROPS are designed to protect the lives of vehicle inhabitants in the event of a roll over incident and we are often asked for guidance and advice. The Safety Devices design team are experienced in creating new design solutions and prototypes for existing military vehicles in use both for the military sector and also for providers to the military.
