Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how Safety Devices International Ltd (Safety Devices, we, us our) as a data controller collects, uses and processes your personal information and sets out our security practices. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. 

1.                Personal information we collect

We may ask you for information about yourself, including your name, address, email address, phone number and payment details.

2.                How do we use personal information collected

 We will retain your information only for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.  You may contact us via email or in writing to request the updating, correcting or removal of your personal information that you have provided at any time using the contact information provided at the end of this document.  

a.        on our website:

Website usage information is collected by a third party service, Google Analytics to help analyse how users use the site. Google Analytics cookies collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. The information generated about your use of the website (including your IP address) is sent to Google. This information is then used to create statistics of visitor behaviour such as the number of visitors. We do not (and do not allow any third party to) use this tool to track or to collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of visitors to our site. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Neither we nor Google will link, or seek to link, an IP address with the identity of a computer user. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personal information from any source, unless you explicitly submit that information via email or a fill-in form on our website.

b.       on our online accessories shop

If you use our accessories shop, your personal information will be collected by third parties, Shopify Inc. and eBay International A.G on our behalf.

They ask you for your personal details including name, email, shipping and billing address, payment details, company name, phone number, IP address and device data.Our sales team will also have access to all of this information, we use this information to provide you with products and services you may order and help you with any orders and refunds you may ask for.

c.        in electronic newsletters

We use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our electronic newsletters. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our electronic newsletter. d.       on social media

We maintain our own social media(Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube etc.) interactions. We use your personal data to provide clarification or assistance in response to your communications.

e.       over the phone

When you call our office we collect Calling Line Identification (CLI) information. We use this information to help improve its efficiency and effectiveness.

We collect information about you to provide information on our products, process your order, manage your account and, if you agree, to email you about other products and services we think may be of interest to you.

Any email sent to us, including any attachments, may be monitored and used by us for reasons of security and for monitoring compliance with office policy.  Email monitoring or blocking software may also be used. Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send to us is within the bounds of the law.

Safety Devices will not share your information for marketing purposes with third parties without asking for your consent first.

We use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption, and we enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files to keep this data safe. We only authorise access to employees who need it to carry out their job responsibilities. Any third party who requires access to your personal information is also required to implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information.

Safety Devices tries to be as open as it can be in terms of giving people access to their personal information. Individuals can find out if we hold any personal information by making a ‘subject access request’ under the Data Protection Act 1998. If we do hold information about you we will:

·         tell you why we are holding it;

·         tell you who it could be disclosed to; and

·         let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.

If you agree, we will try to deal with your request informally, for example by providing you with the specific information you need over the telephone.
