 Homologation

Important information about MSA/FIA homologation

If you have bought a Safety Devices Motorsport UK/FIA homologated roll cage, it is your responsibility to buy a genuine copy of the MSA/FIA certificate, these are not provided by Safety Devices.  Only Motorsport UK can issue genuine certificates – telephone the MSA on +44 (0)1753 765 000 and ask to be put through to the homologation certificates department, or email race@motorsportuk.org.  Request to buy a copy of the certificate number shown on your roll cage’s homologation sticker (‘recognition number’).

BOLT-IN ROLL CAGES:

If your bolt-in roll cage does not have a homologation sticker on it, the sticker has either been omitted by mistake or the roll cage is not homologated.  Email Safety Devices if you believe this to be an error – please email clear photographs of your whole roll cage and of the serial numbers that are stamped on to the foot plate of the main hoop, either behind the passenger’s side or the driver’s side.  These numbers are crucial in order for us to identify the cage.

Please note: a bolt-in roll cage should never be welded-in.  This invalidates the homologation of the cage.  Similarly, any modifications to the cage such as drilling, welding additional brackets or welding of additional bars invalidate the original homologated design.  If in doubt, always contact Safety Devices before commencing installation.

WELD-IN ROLL CAGES:

Homologated weld-in roll cages are supplied with the homologation sticker loose, since the cage is supplied unpainted and in kit form.  Once your weld-in cage has been correctly installed and painted, you should then apply the homologation sticker to the passenger’s side B-Pillar, facing the passenger.  If a sticker has not been supplied with your weld-in cage, it has either been omitted by mistake or the roll cage is not homologated.  Email Safety Devices if you believe this to be an error – please email clear photographs of your whole roll cage and of the serial numbers that are stamped on to the foot plate of the main hoop, either behind the passenger’s side or the driver’s side.

Please note: although weld-in roll cages are supplied in kit form, it is essential that the cage is installed as per the diagram and instructions.  Failure to do so could invalidate the cage’s homologation.  You must not use the parts in positions that do not comply with the diagram and instructions.  If in doubt, always contact Safety Devices before commencing installation.
